Bonny B est le maître, le conteur et le musicien de ce spectacle dédié à l’histoire du blues et de l’esclavage. Il a créé ce projet en l’an 2000 avec son frère Ice B, guitariste et compagnon de scène depuis bientôt 32 ans.
Bonny B a lui-même vécu une forme d’esclavage durant la guerre de Pol Pot entre 1975 et 1979. Lui et sa famille ont trouvé refuge en Suisse, échappant miraculeusement à la mort. En tant que rescapé, il a choisi de créer ce spectacle musical pour raconter la souffrance que les esclaves africains ont endurée à travers cette histoire tragique.
Le spectacle aborde :
• la traite des esclaves,
• la manière dont la musique les a aidés à résister et à garder espoir,
• la guerre de Sécession entre le Nord et le Sud et l’abolition de l’esclavage par Abraham Lincoln en 1863,

Bonny B is the master, storyteller, and musician of this show dedicated to the history of blues and slavery. He created this project in the year 2000 with his brother Ice B, a guitarist and stage partner for nearly 32 years.
Bonny B himself experienced a form of slavery during the Pol Pot war between 1975 and 1979. He and his family found refuge in Switzerland, miraculously escaping death. As a survivor, he chose to create this musical show to share the suffering endured by African slaves throughout this tragic history.
The show covers
• the transatlantic slave trade,
• how music helped enslaved people resist and keep hope alive,
• the Civil War between the North and the South and the abolition of slavery by Abraham Lincoln in 1863,
• the story of a young bluesman imitating the sound of a train with a harmonica given by his father, a slave working in the cotton fields,
• the evolution of blues and gospel into jazz, then rock, leading up to James Brown.
