ma toute première école officielle : la Blue School.
C’était aux alentours de 1992, à mes débuts en tant que musicien, harmoniciste et chanteur de blues.
Je n’ai jamais pris de cours d’harmonica, car à cette époque, peu de gens pensaient que cet instrument pouvait être aussi fantastique et expressif.
Un soir, après un concert à Fribourg en Suisse avec mon groupe de blues, une dame est venue me demander si je donnais des cours d’harmonica. Je lui ai répondu tout de suite :
« Oui, bien sûr ! Venez lundi prochain et je vous donnerai un cours. »
C’était ma toute première élève, et j’ai immédiatement adoré enseigner cet instrument. Depuis ce jour, je n’ai jamais arrêté d’enseigner l’harmonica. Le chant est venu environ une année plus tard.
À cette époque, il n’y avait ni Internet, ni YouTube. J’enseignais avec des cassettes ou des CD, et je demandais souvent à mes élèves d’apporter une cassette vierge. J’avais un Walkman avec lequel j’enregistrais les cours, afin que les élèves puissent travailler à la maison et développer leur écoute.
J’ai toujours aimé le contact avec mes élèves. En 2000, j’ai donc quitté mon métier de confiseur-pâtissier et fondé ma toute première école officielle : la Blue School.
J’ai dû m’inscrire au registre du commerce, ce qui fut une étape importante. Pour cela, je me suis rendu chez un avocat afin d’obtenir un document officiel.
J’ai pris rendez-vous avec un avocat âgé à Pérolles. Lorsqu’il m’a vu entrer dans son bureau, il m’a regardé de haut en bas et m’a demandé :
« Vous êtes riche ? »
Je lui ai répondu :
« Non monsieur, je suis musicien de blues. »
Il a souri et m’a dit :
« Alors je vous fais ça pour 200 francs. »
Alors que, normalement, cela coûtait plusieurs milliers.
Je l’ai chaleureusement remercié et je suis reparti avec ce document officiel, qui m’a permis de devenir indépendant et d’ouvrir la toute première école de blues et d’harmonica en Suisse, avec un enseignement sans solfège.
Depuis, j’ai enseigné à plus de mille harmonicistes et chanteurs, et je continue encore aujourd’hui à transmettre mon savoir dans mon école.

my very first official school: Blue School.
It was around 1992, at the very beginning of my career as a musician, blues harmonica player, and singer.
I never took harmonica lessons because, at that time, very few people believed this instrument could be so powerful and expressive.
One evening, after a concert in Fribourg, Switzerland, with my blues band, a woman came up to me and asked if I gave harmonica lessons. I immediately replied:
“Yes, of course! Come next Monday and I’ll give you a lesson.”
She became my very first student, and I instantly fell in love with teaching the harmonica. From that day on, I never stopped teaching. About a year later, I also began teaching singing.
At that time, there was no Internet and certainly no YouTube. I taught using cassette tapes and CDs, and I often asked my students to bring a blank cassette. I had a Walkman to record the lessons so they could practice at home and develop their listening skills.
I have always loved the connection with my students. In 2000, I left my job as a pastry chef and founded my very first official school: Blue School.
I had to register the school officially, which required legal paperwork.
I made an appointment with an elderly lawyer in Pérolles. When I arrived at his office, he looked me up and down and asked:
“Are you rich?”
I answered:
“No sir, I’m a blues musician.”
He smiled and said:
“Then I’ll do it for 200 francs.”
Even though it usually cost thousands.
I thanked him warmly and left with the official document that allowed me to become independent and open the very first blues and harmonica school in Switzerland, teaching without music theory.
Since then, I have taught more than a thousand harmonica players and singers, and I still continue to teach today.
Sharing knowledge and music with others is essential to me.

Es war etwa im Jahr 1992, zu Beginn meiner Tätigkeit als Musiker, Blues-Harmonikaspieler und Sänger.
Ich habe nie Harmonikaunterricht genommen, denn zu dieser Zeit glaubte kaum jemand, dass dieses Instrument so ausdrucksstark und faszinierend sein kann.
Eines Abends, nach einem Konzert in Freiburg (Schweiz) mit meiner Bluesband, kam eine Frau zu mir und fragte, ob ich Harmonikaunterricht gebe. Ich antwortete sofort:
„Ja, natürlich! Kommen Sie nächsten Montag, dann gebe ich Ihnen eine Unterrichtsstunde.“
Sie war meine allererste Schülerin, und ich liebte es sofort, dieses Instrument zu unterrichten. Seitdem habe ich nie aufgehört, Harmonika zu unterrichten. Etwa ein Jahr später kam der Gesangsunterricht dazu.
Damals gab es weder Internet noch YouTube. Ich unterrichtete mit Kassetten und CDs und bat meine Schüler oft, eine leere Kassette mitzubringen. Ich hatte einen Walkman, mit dem ich die Unterrichtsstunden aufnahm, damit sie zu Hause üben und ihr Gehör entwickeln konnten.
Ich habe den Kontakt zu meinen Schülern immer sehr geschätzt. Im Jahr 2000 gab ich meinen Beruf als Konditor auf und gründete meine erste offizielle Schule: die Blue School.
Dafür musste ich mich offiziell ins Handelsregister eintragen lassen.
Ich vereinbarte einen Termin mit einem älteren Anwalt in Pérolles. Als ich sein Büro betrat, musterte er mich von oben bis unten und fragte:
„Sind Sie reich?“
Ich antwortete:
„Nein, ich bin Bluesmusiker.“
Er lächelte und sagte:
„Dann mache ich es für 200 Franken.“
Obwohl es normalerweise mehrere Tausend kostete.
Ich bedankte mich herzlich und verließ sein Büro mit dem offiziellen Dokument, das es mir ermöglichte, unabhängig zu werden und die erste Blues- und Harmonikaschule der Schweiz zu eröffnen – ohne Notenlesen.
Seitdem habe ich mehr als tausend Harmonikaschüler und Sänger unterrichtet und unterrichte bis heute weiter.
Für mich ist es sehr wichtig, Wissen und Musik mit anderen zu teilen.
Das ist meine Geschichte.
